The Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards 2019

Friday night saw more than 200 senior-level professionals from the New Zealand Internet and Communications Technology sector come together at the Broadband Compare Awards to celebrate the best of the best in the New Zealand broadband sector.

The Awards were hosted by Broadband Compare, a free-to-use broadband comparison website operated by NZ Compare and TUANZ, the independent not-for-profit membership association with over 170 New Zealand corporate and individual members. Huawei provided vital support as the Premier Gold Sponsor for the event.

NZ Compare People's Choice Award 2019

This award is for the broadband provider who is voted the best overall service provider in NZ by the public.

TUANZ NZ Broadband Provider of the Year 2019

The TUANZ NZ Broadband Provider of the Year is the supreme award chosen by the Judges from the winners of the other Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards categories, excluding the Broadband Compare People’s Choice Award, and is announced on the night.

This award is for the strongest overall Wholesale Broadband provider in New Zealand.

Best Fibre Broadband Provider 2019

This award is for the strongest overall Fibre Broadband service provider in New Zealand. This category is open to NZ ISPs and organisations who provide at least one specific Fibre broadband service to NZ consumers or organisations.

Best Bundled Plan 2019

Open to NZ ISPs and organisations who provide at least one ‘bundled’ broadband service to NZ consumers or organisations. A bundle plan must consist of a broadband connection with another core service, product or feature e.g. landline, mobile or power service.

Best Customer Support 2019

This award will be presented to the New Zealand broadband provider that best demonstrates a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The category is open to New Zealand ISPs in both the consumer and business sector.

Best Service Provider under 10,000 customers 2019

This award is for the best Internet Service Provider in New Zealand who serviced less than 10,000 connected customers in the previous 12 months.

This award is for the strongest overall Rural Service Provider in New Zealand. This category is open to New Zealand ISPs and organisations who provide or support broadband services specific to rural customers.

This award will be presented to the NZ business or organisation that demonstrates the biggest innovation within the NZ Broadband sector of the last 12 mths. Open to ISPs and organisations that work within, support or provide to the NZ broadband industry.

Best Specialist Broadband Provider 2019

This award is for the strongest, Specialist Broadband Plan provider in New Zealand.  A specialist provider is any plan created and marketed for a specific NZ audience - this could be a Business Broadband plan, Gaming Broadband or a Budget Broadband option.

This award is for the best Internet Service Provider in New Zealand who serviced at least 10,000 connected customers in the previous 12 months.

This award is for the strongest overall Wireless Broadband service provider in New Zealand. This category is open to NZ ISPs and organisations who provide at least one specific Wireless broadband service to NZ consumers or organisations.

The awards were particularly relevant this year, as they come at a time where there has been more demand that ever for digital connectivity to keep us connected to family, enable flexible working and provide entertainment during the Covid pandemic.
