About the Awards

November 2nd 2017 will see New Zealand celebrate the very best of the broadband industry at the Broadband Compare Awards. The prestigious event will recognise the companies that provide New Zealanders with the very best products and services in the broadband industry.

In their inaugural year, the Broadband Compare Awards will cover every aspect of the New Zealand broadband market. With a range of different categories including best home and mobile provider, best customer support, fastest service, best rural provider and best broadband innovation.

By highlighting the best broadband providers and products, the Broadband Compare Awards will make it even easier for Kiwis to make informed buying decisions and help them seek out the right products for their needs.

The Broadband Compare Awards winners are based on a combination of criteria. These include consumer surveys and reviews on the Broadband Compare website, decisions from our expert judging panel, as well as broadband speed and reliability data that is collated from thousands of speed tests throughout the year.

We will survey 100’s of household decision-makers through respected insight agency The Interpreters to provide additional consumer data to help our judges to decide, amongst other categories, the best providers for value, customer service and bundled broadband and landline plans.

To determine the fastest providers, we have used data from our partner TrueNet for the most complete picture of broadband speed in New Zealand.

Meet Your Host - Nick Rado

Nick Rado

Nick Rado is a multi-award winning, presenter, producer, writer, MC and stand-up comedian with national and international success in the radio and stand-up comedy industries.

Nick is currently guest comedian, panelist and head writer for TV3’s award winning topical news comedy panel show ‘7 Days’, he is four time winner of the NZ Comedy Guild Award for 'Best Comedy MC' and recently opened for Scottish comedy legend Danny Bhoy on his nationwide NZ tour.

A multi-award winning comedian, including a four times winner of the NZ Comedy Guild Award ‘Best MC’ we’re looking forward to hearing Nick’s uniquely entertaining perspective on the internet and broadband at the inaugural Broadband Compare Awards.

The inaugural Broadband Compare Awards will take place in The Sapphire Room, located above the bustling Ponsonby Central in Auckland.

The Sapphire Room is a striking venue that has hosted a glittering array of glamorous events and the Broadband Compare Awards will be no different. With high ceilings and an air of industrial chic, The Sapphire Room is the perfect venue to celebrate the achievements of the broadband sector in New Zealand.

FAQ’s

Is there a fee to enter? Do I need to be a big brand ISP? Does the trophy make my bum look big?
There’s a few common questions we get asked often – we’ve answered them below in case they can help you to complete your entry. If you still can’t find the answer to your question, please call 021 086 46020 or email gavin@broadbandcompare.co.nz 
Q: Is there a fee for entering the Broadband Compare Awards?
A. Yeah, Nah, Kinda... So, your first entry to any category is free of charge. Then there is a small fee for each additional entry. This is NZ$75+GST. This helps us to cover the costs of administration but we have kept the fee low as we don’t want to put anyone off because we believe all internet providers in NZ should have the opportunity to enter and be recognised for their achievements and their contribution to the New Zealand broadband sector.
Q: What if the Internet Provider I work for is very small? Can I still enter?
A. Yes, you can – and we urge you to! We have some specific categories for smaller and regional ISP's. So check out all the category options and find the one that will suit you. Your entry will be evaluated alongside other companies within the same category / sector.
Q: My company does not work with Broadband Compare. How do I know the Broadband Compare Awards will be impartial?
A. The aim of the Broadband Compare website is to encourage awareness and improve understanding of the different types of broadband available and the range of different internet providers there are in New Zealand. ANY Internet Provider can enter the Broadband Compare Awards as long as they meet the specific entry criteria for each category. We have a judging panel of impartial and trusted experts and judging is conducted in a confidential environment. Your entry will not be judged based on whether you work with Broadband Compare.
Q: What is the format for this event?
A. The format of the event is not a ‘formal’ sit down this year so no table plans etc but dependent on numbers from certain companies or sponsors we can organise areas/bar leaners and tables for groups. There will of course be some seating available and we’re sure our MC will keep things in order for the awards part of the evening. For the pre and post Awards component, there'll be mixing and mingling, eating delicious food and drinking delightful beverages.
Q: What is the dress code?
A. The event starts at 6pm, so we don't expect you to be dressed up like James Bond or ultra-glamourous... But if that is how you want to dress then totally go for it! We will draw the line the other way though... it's a celebration, you wouldn't want your winning photos in jandals and a basketball vest!
Q: What will it cost me?
A. Standard tickets cost $95 + GST.
Q: Will I be fed?
A. Yes you will. We're a responsible host and as we're watering you with beers, wine and bubbles there will also be some tasty food. Your ticket will include an array of delicious canapes and substantial finger foods on the night. Dietary requirements have been considered, just ask your waiting staff as they roam the room.
